John Lloyd Cruz Biography


JOHN LLOYD CRUZ was born on June 24, 1983. His entrance to showbiz was really a pure kind of luck. John Lloyd was malling with his friends when a talent scout spotted him. The talent scout approached John Lloyd and convinced him to go to ABS-CBN for an audition at Star Magic.

With his charisma, John Lloyd easily passed the audition and became a part of the Star Magic Batch 5. His first project was in television sitcom "Palibhasa Lalake" and then given a more important role in "Gimik".

John Lloyd's bigger break is when he was casted in "Tabing Ilog", a Philippine adaptation of "Dawson's Creek" whre he won the Best Drama Actor in the 2001 PMPC Star Awards for TV. It was then followed by "Sa Sandaling Kailangan mo ako" as Daniel and "Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka" as Adrian Montecillo

John Lloyd Cruz is then again casted in "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay" which runs from 2001 up to 2002. It is notable that this soap opera is the first team-up of the John Lloyd Cruz - Bea Alonzo love team. Another thing thing to note here is the awards of the said show - CMMA Best Drama Series and the PMPC Star Awards Best Primetime Drama Series, and the first local show to be nominated a finalist in the Best Drama Series category of the International Emmy Awards.

John Lloyd then became a favorite in primetime TV. He was in the lead role in "It Might Be You", "Ikaw Ang Lahat Sa Akin", "Maalaala Mo Kaya (Rene Cayetano Stroy, Kwintas, and Pedicab)", "Maging Sino Ka Man (including Ang Pagbabalik)" and his latest "I Love Betty La Fea" with Bea Alonzo.

His first movie was "Ikaw Pala Ang Mahal Ko" then followed by "Nagbibinata", "Gimik The Reunion", "My First Romance", "Forevermore", "Now That I Have You" and "Dubai" where he won the Best Supporting Actor and Film Actor of the Year from different Award giving bodies.

John Lloyd's success in Dubai is followed by "Close To You", "All About Love" and the monster hit "A Very Special Love" with Sarah Geronimo. The success of that film earned John Lloyd the distinction as the Philippines' Box Office King.

Due to the huge success of "A Very Special Love", they made the sequel "You Changed My Life" and again it hits the box office and that fate cemented John Lloyd's throne as the Box Office King.

He appeared in "T2" as the father of Angeli and he is scheduled to do a film temporarily titled "Someone Like You" in 2010.
